Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. PDFroo processes your files inside your own browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, so your documents never leave your device and there is nothing for us to store or delete.

How strong is the encryption?

PDFroo uses AES-256, the strongest standard PDF encryption, supported by all modern PDF readers.

What if I forget the password?

There is no way for us to recover it – we never see your file or password. Keep the password somewhere safe.

What do the restrictions do?

They ask PDF readers to block printing, copying or editing. Reputable readers respect them, but restrictions are less secure than the open password itself.
